Absolutely incredible
New console and PC players will be queuing until midnight, and Amazon will have drivers out late into the night. The release of GTA VI is set to be the biggest launch of 2026, according to Rockstar. The euphoria surrounding the game is beyond imagination, with many video gamers already planning to book the day off work to immerse themselves in it.
The release of its predecessor marked one of the greatest successes in modern gaming history. GTA V’s arrival on PlayStation 4 was euphoric, sending shockwaves across the industry. It set a benchmark for how modern titles on next-generation consoles should be developed. GTA V established a new standard for narrative and graphical fidelity. It captured the modern essence of advanced technology, delivering characters with realistic features that brought the game to life. Arguably, GTA V changed the dynamics of gameplay and redefined the landscape of the game development market.
The long-awaited release of GTA VI has sparked debate over the past decade. Gamers have questioned Rockstar’s ability to develop games rapidly while improving the user experience. The company has also faced criticism for adopting the EA and 2K model of microtransactions, where gamers are encouraged to continuously purchase add-ons within the same game, allowing studios to maximise revenue.
The initial release of the GTA VI trailer in December sent the gaming world into a frenzy, with many optimistic about a summer release. However, Rockstar’s disappointing announcement in May 2025 that the game would be delayed led many die-hard fans to again question the company’s development pace.

The extended cut of the trailer, released this month, has sparked a wave of next-generation console purchases in anticipation of next year’s launch. The cinematic cutscenes and enhanced graphics suggest that Rockstar is crafting something special, and the delay may well prove worthwhile.
The realism of the characters and the vibrant atmosphere of Vice City evoke nostalgia from previous titles in the franchise. The storylines appear poised to be rich and compelling. There is speculation that Rockstar will introduce an online narrative mode, allowing gamers to explore different paths with multiple characters.
Watching the trailer felt like playing the game. Some cutscenes give the impression that the title has transformed both gameplay and visual presentation. It seems Rockstar is adding new dimensions to the game, aiming to deliver an experience unlike any before.
With over 100 million views within 24 hours and a reported $2 billion invested in development, Rockstar’s focus appears to have been on creating a landmark title with an unforgettable experience. The verdict among fans is clear: Rockstar should take its time and perfect the game.
The GTA franchise has delivered memorable experiences in the past, and GTA VI looks set to be the latest instalment to carry forward Rockstar’s legacy. The countdown to May 25, 2026, has well and truly begun.
