Society Benchmark - The Pressure They Put on us
The benchmark of maintaining the highest standards has always become a pragmatic concept in society. The belief in praise and mishaps are a common occurrence which makes one feel that they belong in society. Social justification is deeply rooted in the elegance of fulfilling a righteous status which makes individuals a sense of understanding the societal values that people might upheld about them.
The judgements are passed as a reminder of being part of equality or a system of inequality but the idea remains the same where the meaning remains the same. The society benchmark portrays an outcome where speechless individuals cannot say anything that puts them in danger. Individuals feel that they are judged because of the roots that formed the branches of a tree. The growth of a tree can be judged by a focus group that has no relations to how the tree was grown but the judgments are consistent where there is no room for improvement. Questions are not asked so that individuals can make a suggestion as to why the tree might want to grow a certain way due to the environmental and social factors, and/ or the nutrients that the tree needs for it to grow in a way that benefits society which forms a benchmark.
Referring an individual to a tree has to be a bizarre analogy but it creates an idea where people can see that there are similarities which portray a tree to a person. A tree needs the same nutrients and the same care as an individual but what differs are the social and human interactions which a tree doesn’t have. An individual would talk, walk and perform human characteristics that make them different from a tree but a tree eats and drinks and requires the same care that an individual needs and this nurturing process gives the tree an opportunity to grow which then become an idolised plant where it becomes a sacred or a pillar in society. Plant becomes a representation of a statement where it is looked upon to provide a source of hope which defines the culture that society wants to implement. The path created for the tree symbolises greatness that humans must have because of the references between trees and humans which brings an added pressure for them to be moulded into a modest person in society.
We can think that society is modest but judgments are always passed if the tree has not been cultivated in the right way because individuals would judge the tree and say negative things about the tree which calls for the tree to be dug up and made into materialistic items. This can apply to humans because an individual can be ridiculed if they don’t apply themselves very well in society and this is where the individual can be judged and become an outcast of society. The matter becomes a state of urgency when the individuals are perceived as this because the individuals must recollect their thoughts and find their values to meet the societal benchmark. The societal benchmark is very high in society nowadays with the prevalence of social interconnectedness where remoteness has become a norm that has changed the social values that society is not adhering to. The benchmark has created a controversial account where people are not interested in the benchmarking process that society has set and this means that individuals are becoming distant to the norms that society has portrayed.
The individuals are not allowed to be hesitant or reluctant otherwise the social system of society will prohibit them and they will be seen as an outcast which makes the understanding of the methodical society a complex notion. Individuals must have goals that suit the modern functionalities of society and individuals must have goals which are prevalent to the societal traits of an economic system that benefits everyone through a well-designed welfare programme. These are the benchmarks that are set by society and not following them puts an individual into a cult system of not belonging. The high standards cannot be adhered to and certainly cannot be achieved by a person because it is impossible to have an equal mentality and the same drive. One thing that society seems to forget at times and maybe, all the times is that we are different and our goals are different. We are not all born with a silver spoon in our mouth and we are not all born with a voice of wisdom but society does not care as long as we are all thinking about how to enhance the artefacts and infrastructures within society. This can be debatable if the norm is challenged and this is why some individuals do not conform with the benchmarking settings that they are implemented in society. Although society presents opportunities for individuals that are less fortunate, the parameters that it takes for them to get those opportunities are extraordinary to say the least. These opportunities are not always meant to be suitable for the less fortunate individuals because to get these opportunities, they must have good academic credentials along with emotional and moral intelligence which make them eligible to be given these opportunities, and these are the parameters that society has set. This may seem unfair but it has political connotations which have been embedded with the societal benchmark and this concept cannot be eradicated.
The analogy must be credited with a focus of intent because the benchmark that exists in society has caused a real issue with mental and social issues. However, we still ignore the way that message is conveyed to the populace and the clarity of benchmarking is still not challenged but it is embraced within the social norms. As individuals, there is a lot of pressure for us to be law-abiding citizens and at the same time, follow the rules that society has implemented. It creates uncertainty that forms stress and hopelessness to a small number of the population. This benchmark is similar to a cult system that only involves the people with a hypocritical mindset.
