SERENA - The Real GWOAT
The first time that Serena burst onto the scene, there was a little scepticism of how her career would progress. The braids in the US Open saw a young woman who embraced her natural self but then she put on a performance which made the doubters and sceptics become believers. The way she played was unbelievable and she knew that her name belongs in the Rushmore of tennis. Over the years, her confidence grew and she became the best tennis player in her generation.
She glided on the court like she was possessed and she made the sport look easy to play. Serena made the game of tennis like a game of chess - easy to move the pawns without any strategic thinking and she also made the court feel like it was her second home. She embraced every challenge and challenger that came along her path of greatness. Serena changed the way tennis was played as she brought power and prowess, and the way she looked at her opponents before she destroyed them - there was nothing wrong with that. Serena did not fear any of her challengers and the reason why she has achieved the Greatest Women of All Time is because she has shown that she is the best in her field along with the accolades and the philanthropy activities that she has carried whilst playing tennis.
No one can question Serena’s passion for the sport and her desire to win and certainly, no one can say anything about Serena’s titles that she has won. Although she has not beaten Margaret Court’s single Grand Slam titles; Serena is the best tennis player in the open era. Hence, the style and challenges were different in the days of Margaret Court compared to Serena’s era where the game became physically and commercially challenging. Serena is a GWOAT and she has cemented her legacy - it is going to be hard for women tennis to replace her as there is no one in the game with her power, skills and tenacity.
